Istra 1961 has appointed a new coach, 51-year-old Spaniard Javier Cabello, who will replace Krešimir Režić. Cabello will lead the club during a one-year contract. Cabello has worked as a scout and academy coordinator at Villarreal in his career. He has also independently managed Spanish teams Cieza, Castellon and Cultural Leones, and was part of the coaching staff at Alaves from 2017 to 2021. Last season, Istra 1961 finished in sixth place in the league with 12 wins, 7 draws and 17 losses.
